Dear Hopefuls,
Our hopeful for this week is:
Abdulrahman Bapullo
The King In The North
B.Sc Natural and Environmental Science.
(with a concentration in Biomedicine)
American University of Nigeria, Yola
AUN SGA President 2016/2017
Aspiring Member, Adamawa State House of Assembly
Aspiring President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
(come 2019 and and 2035 respectively)
He shares with us his success story and aspirations for the future.
OurSharedHope: What does AUN mean to you?
Bapullo: AUN is everything, AUN is home away from our main home. I mean AUN is where students are pounded until their potentials are unleashed. This may not be accurate to say but if I were to repeat these four glorious years I have spent in this prestigious university, I will gladly accept because AUN made me a star. AUN has taught me that the true difference between the words ‘here’ and ‘there’ is ‘T’ and that ‘T’ stands for time. They say that it is not the years in a man’s life that matters but the life in the man’s years, at AUN I had a successful life and this will only get better.
OurSharedHope: You were president of SGA, tell me about that.
Bapullo: Well I think i was not just the SGA president but the SGA it self and I am proud to say that I was the longest serving member of the SGA in the history of AUN SGA. The SGA made me who I am today, a people person before any other thing, Outgoing, vocal & of absolute regard for the welfare of people around me. Before I became the president, I had to climb the ladder of leadership through motivation and the encouragement I got from my peers and of course the amiable Dean Byron Bullock, from being a director, to open seat senator, the Vice President and to the President. To cut the long story short as my NES instructor (NES instructor, Prof. Jenifer Tyndall) will say, being the president was nothing sort of brilliant. I really feel blessed & count myself lucky to had held that position at that stage of my life.
OurSharedHope: Tell me, You have a new President both in SGA and in AUN. What do you make of that?
Bapullo: Yes we have a new AUN President and AUN SGA President and I am very excited about this. First of all, with deep admiration in me, I want to let AUN students know that the New leadership headed by Idris Mamman (OurSharedHope recognizes Idris Mamman, the current AUN SGA President, #OneVoice, #OneSGA, #StrongerTogether) will not succumb to hopelessness and defeatism. He was part of the administration headed by me as the SGA Director of Food and hygiene and he did the job with a lot of enthusiasm. So I believe he will continue to build on the variables of team work, transparency & accountability to the student body.
For the new AUN president, Dr. Dawn Dekle, the little chat I had with her, I can tell that she understands the philosophy of students growth and development. Also, what AUN stands for as a development university. It is my hope that she takes the university to a whole new level. To that Harvard level.
OurSharedHope: Yes, now to the Harvard theory....you referred to AUN as Africa's Harvard. Will you shed more light?
Bapullo: I was actually waiting for this question, People might actually think am exaggerating but it is what it is. I wish I could say less about the achievements that AUN has had in both the local and global picture. This university has raised great men and women who are spread all over the face of the planet working in various organizations and affecting people with the change that AUN stands for. The list is long that I cannot start mentioning names, but our alumnus are in MIT, V-Tech, Google, CNN and many other outstanding institutions where they have become icons of development in the world. Not to forget the free University trips for some of the best undergraduate conferences in the world, to a world class Leadership Academy pioneered by our Dean of students, to over 30 associations, clubs & societies, to the entrepreneurship programs, as well as the state of the art research inclusive departments, I am confidently saying it again that AUN is Africa’s Harvard. (Laughs)
OurSharedHope: Okay now, won't a university like A.B.U that has produced the strongest alumni body in Nigeria be offended by this claim?
Bapullo: Offended ! Why would they be offended, I didn't say anything bad about ABU or any other university, they can as well claim Oxford. ABU would have been my choice for a public university in Nigeria. After all senator Dino Milaye graduated from there.
OurSharedHope: Moving on to talk about BLogistics
OurSharedHope: If you were president, how would you fix the situation at hand?

Abdulrahman Bapullo At the AUN 2017 Commencement Day |
OurSharedHope: Okay now, won't a university like A.B.U that has produced the strongest alumni body in Nigeria be offended by this claim?

OurSharedHope: Moving on to talk about BLogistics
Bapullo: You mean BLogistics the jack of all Trade, Master of All. Well based on logistics, BLogistics go after profitable opportunities. Looking at various business opportunities around me was the driving force that lead to the creation of this company. I have people around me who need graphic designs and It solutions, I see a lot of events like weddings, parties and other ceremonies happening around me, I thought of event planing. I see farmers who need to know and use mechanize farming for maximum production of agricultural products. Fashion is another big thing today and every one want to go with the trend. So as an entrepreneur I thought of bringing all of them together and provide each and every one the service they need.
OurSharedHope: So it's a company that will do everything?
Bapullo: BLogistics is still a baby and it is my hope that it grows into an empire that will provide services around the world. Shout Ot to Akim john my Graphic designer and I.T guy. Yes because Everything need logistics based on logistics.
OurSharedHope: So any other venture apart from this now after graduation?
Bapullo: I have been at home trying to get some rest and working on some proposals. Also got 6 months internship with office of students affairs and will resume work fully after Sallah break.
OurSharedHope: Future Aspirations?
Bapullo: This is a very big question sir, I have a lot of aspirations for my self and for the future our dear country Nigeria. I'm very much interested in mainstream politics. As a matter of fact, i will be running for member, state house of assembly in Adamawa state come 2019 In Sha Allah.
I have plans with targets, another one is becoming the president of Nigeria come 2035 In Sha Allah. And also see my self among those that will make it on Forbes magazine as a success business man with an empire that will provide job opportunities for fellow Nigerians. BLogistics to the world.
OurSharedHope: What do you think were your weakness at AUN SGA?
Bapullo: The greatest weakness was actually in terms of providing true representation to every single AUN student whenever needed. But Alhamdulillah I will say I had a successful tenure.
OurSharedHope: As leader of that university, how have you tried to provide that true representation?
Bapullo: Well I won't do justice if I use 'I' rather I will use 'We' to answer this question. Therefore, We have invested so much in capacity building to enable the SGA perform its functions as the supreme body for AUN's students. As students representatives, our capacity is to articulate and advocate student needs and concerns which we did to the best of our ability. However, the journey was not smooth as expected & I admit that we were absolutely far from perfect. Mistakes were made & lessons learned but most importantly were the fact that we did our best to serve all AUN students. This is indeed a lifetime honor and privilege for service.
OurSharedHope: Dear Sir, what can you say about the latest Controversies regarding the Igbo, Biafra and Kaduna Youths
Bapullo: Oh well well well, my Igbo brothers, the Biafra and kaduna youths, all of them should calm down think and rethink if what both parties are proposing is the best thing for this country at this moment in time. We are in recession for God sake!! Is that not enough for the country? It is very sad to see how things have panned out over the last 2 months but as a patriotic Nigerian, strife based on ethnocentric differences is a very embarrassing development for the country. My thoughts on the issue is that if politics is based on issues and development, we wouldn't be were we are today. We are one people in this country and we shouldn't see politics as a playground to peddle hate & take advantage of our differences, yet bold enough in ensuring that change becomes constant.
We are one Nigeria and we shall remain one forever. God bless Nigeria
OurSharedHope fully supports Mr.Bapullo We are ready to help actualize this dream in any way possible. |
Bapullo: You mean when I am the commander in chief, which I will be one day In Sha Allah. (Laughs)
As a president, it is paramount for me to be the stalwart of the constitution and the constitution explicitly states that Nigerians irrespective of tribe or religion can live in any part of the country freely. It will be my responsibility to ensure the execution of the dictates of the constitution. I will also ensure the creative use of dialogue to manage the tensions and mediate with the Biafra secessionists in that they are appeased and Nigeria still remains one indivisible nation. The world need no additional nation it is beautiful just the way it is (laughs) #NigeriaWeAreOne (You mean 'when' I am* I hate 'if')
OurSharedHope: Yes sir, what do you think is OurSharedHope?
Bapullo: OursharedHope is s platform for young Nigerians to share their success stories and aspirations so as to inspire and motivate others to work toward making Nigeria greater and the world at large.
OurSharedHope: Will there be anything else that you would like to share with us?
Bapullo: Thank you very much for given me this opportunity to share my hopes.
Shout out to the entire aun community and of course class of 2017, I love you all. May God Almighty bless all our hustles.
To all youths out there, know that our time is now, let's not be deceived by the popular saying "we are the leaders of tomorrow". I say, we are the leaders of today, take leadership positions, be innovative and creative and when tomorrow comes we will lead better. Thanks and God bless Nigeria.
